Elmar Haardt was born in Essen in 1974 and now lives in Berlin. In his artistic work he deals with the conditions of human existence.
Haardt studied empirical cultural studies and American studies at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (1996–1998) and European ethnology, sociology and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin (1998–2003). This was followed by studies of photography with Wiebke Loeper and Jörn Vanhöfen in Berlin until 2006. His main work is the series Land of Dreams, which includes 40 large-format photographs. The highlight of his previous exhibitions was the Grieger relaunch at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf with Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, Thomas Demand and Damien Hirst.
